Prometheus Mk. I - 10 GW Nuclear Reactor

This is a 'zero waste' 10 GW nuclear reactor - non-modular symmetrical - with a number of features and functions I'll list below. I've been experimenting with unorthodox layouts since 2.0 released, and this is my favourite of the bunch. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts, especially on potential improvements. Global Status Indicator Circuits are set up to track steam level, reactor temperature, and power-plant status, which will be visible on the map. Steam levels & reactor temps will display in text. Lamps will glow green during normal operation, yellow during idle (low temperature) periods, and red if temperatures are too low to produce steam AND steam levels are too low for turbines to operate at full capacity. Alarms will sound globally if steam reserves are completely empty. Steam Reserve There is a sizeable steam buffer. The reason is two-fold; firstly, it allows downtime for the reactors (unless you're consuming the full 10 GW) to allow fuel production to catch up if need be. Secondly, it allows the plant to quickly jump in power output without waiting for reactors to warm back up. Extra Heat Pipes The seemingly useless/unnecessary heat pipes are either for faster heat throughput or for heat storage. It makes for a longer cold start, but improves long-term fuel efficiency at maximum load from a low of 22.7/min to a low of 20.9/min. Independent Start-Up The solar panels provide just enough power for the reactor to start itself, provided there is fuel in the chests and logistics bots available. A cold start takes 3-5 minutes. Independent Reactor Controls Instead of reading every reactor temp simultaneously and feeding fuel when the total fuel fell below a certain threshold, I opted to control fuel insertion at each reactor independently for the slight fuel efficiency improvement. This sometimes results in a few reactors deactivating when their fuel expires but internal temps are still high, which slows overall heat transfer. Luckily, the IRC allows you to adjust this per reactor if you want to speed up those heating times. Shortcomings The most glaring issue with this design is the size. It’s compact for the amount of power it makes, but it is still objectively a large facility. This can make it impractical to use, as it is too large for space, and making room in the factory can be challenging depending on your biter situation or if you have a large enough lake nearby. That brings us to the second issue: it is not easily converted for external water delivery. This will be solved in Mk.II. Finally, this design is a grossly inefficient use of resources unless you are consistently using at least 7 GW and don’t care about UPS.

"Minimalist Series" 4.96GW 32 Cell Nuclear Reactor w/APU

Same design philosophy used as the 16 core model in this new reactor series. Just doubled up, and requires use of the powered inlet and piping included in the blueprint book for proper operation. It is recommended to keep the piping run from a body of water as short as possible.

Bob Angels Nuclear Reactors

Provides a stable version for each nuclear plant available in bob angels pack. Additionally there's breeder reactor blocks added for creating the very slow recipe components. Plus there's ultraradio recipes for creating vehicle fuels or powering long burner chains.

(Yet Another) Tilable Nuclear Reactors Setup with adaptive regulation (up to 24000 reactors)

Tilable Nuclear Reactor setup with regulation - will run only the amount of reactors needed for current power consumption. Theoretical limit is 24000 nuclear reactors connected this way (the belt throughput for fuel). After every 120 reactors a pump must be placed for water and steam or the pipe will be overextended. Usage: 1. If you won't need more than 12 reactors - just slap "Minimal Setup" blueprint and you're done. 2. If you need more - start with "Starter". 3. Slap as many "Tile"s as needed. Blueprint is parametrized. 3a. For each Tile enter number of already placed reactors. For example, after Starter, you'll have to enter 12. Next Tile will have to be 24, next - 36 and so on. 3b. Connect green wires to the corresponding fuel loading inserters between tiles. All fuel loading inserters must be connected to a single green circuit. 3c. If you need more than 120 reactors this way you'll need to incorporate pumps between tiles. It's easy for water, but for steam you'll have to sacrifice an entire row of tanks to split pipe into chunks. 4. Attach "Ender" blueprint at the end. 5. Make sure to load fuel into the inner lane of the belt. 6. Do not connect solar panels to main grid - this is a backup for cold start.

Smart infinitely tileable nuclear reactor

This nuclear reactor setup is basically perfect if you don't care about the space it takes. Pros: + Smart: Only consumes as much fuel as it needs + infintely tileable: Want more power? Just add another one of these + Roboports for easy expansion and fuel supply: This blueprint book contains two blueprints: The only difference is that only one includes Roboports, because you don't need them that often. + Includes Landfill + Includes solar panels for easy startup + Has relative grid enabled for easy placement Cons: - Extremely long (512 x 11 tiles) Depends: - Has enough storage to store all the steam from 200 seconds of runtime (the time it takes to consume one fuel.) - If you have extreme differences (a few 100MW difference) in power consumption with very high power spikes after almost no power use for a longer period of time, this might take a few seconds or even minutes to produce enough power again. To mitigate this, either place more batteries or you can add more storage tanks to this design between the turbines and the current storage tanks (but that will make it even longer) How to use: 1. Place the blueprint and wait until it's all built and supplied with fuel. 2. Click on the constant combinator and turn it on and off again (fast) once. You need to turn it off again fast because otherwise the inserter will keep inserting fuel to the reactor. (This isn't THAT bad, but you'll either have to take it out manually from all 4 reactors or live with the fact that you potentially wasted 4+ fuel.) If for whatever reason you need to restart the reactor just repeat the second step. This was made in 1.1. It should also work for lower and higher versions but I can't guarantee it.
