Doylecan's Mall
My first Blueprint share on this site, I've utilized many so I figured I better contribute. I took “Scarhoof's” mall and have greatly expanded on it. Thanks Scarhoof, I enjoyed your Youtube playlists very much. There are 3 Blueprints containing different versions of the same mall. The early game mall has steel chests and a recycling belt running through the inside of the mall. The mid to late game mall has filtered storage chests and no recycling belt. I also included the mid/late game mall with the recycling belt that I like to use until I get my logistics robot count up high enough to manage automated recycling. I enjoy a belt based mall that is slick to walk or drive through because it covers everything I use except some items that would be too much of a drain on the throughput, like robot, nuclear or high end ammo/artillery production. All Storage chests are filtered and connected to its inserter via a green wire, limiting each item's storage to my desired amount. Adjust as you see fit. There are chests to recycle items not produced in the mall but required like green and red circuits, iron and copper plates, stone, bricks, coal, sulphur etc... My placement may not suit your needs, move them to where they'll be most suitable for your gameplay. All assembling machines are tier 2 for the early game but I replace many with AM3's as soon I research. I don't have buffer chests included because I still haven't used them in-game, I guess that means I like belts. Construction and logistics robots get recycled into the roboports as I seem to find many extra in my inventory at times. Filter inserters point to belts to show how resources must be placed for the mall to operate and are meant to be removed except the inserter of sulphur into the explosives chemical plant in the bottom right corner, this one can just be replaced with a yellow or blue inserter. I've put an 'X' on the red circuit and battery belts to show which lane items should be on. In the top left corner I have an assembling machine that I use to make one-off, or rarely manufactured items like armor, personal roboports, artillery remote, energy shields, etc... I like to bring a belt of plastic and processing units to this assembler as these are used often. I have a couple of chests feeding this assembler so I can dump a bunch of resources to make exploding cannon shells, for instance, and leave it run while I do something else. This is my go-to spot for these items which is why I have the recycling chests in the interior bottom left. The two on the left for wood pull off the recycling belt and the other three for everything else, these chests are drawn from and items thrown on the recycling belt, they travel the interior circuit and filter inserters throw the items in their appropriate chests. The storage chests for each assembler aren't limited so the filter inserters can do their job, the limits are up to the connected long (red) inserters. I would suggest keeping an eye on these the first time you use the blueprint as sometimes I've noticed a few don't follow orders after placing. I will often expand the recycling belt to bring iron and copper ore to be recycled nearby furnace setups. NOTE: I always put a filter on storage chests elsewhere in my factory so that items aren't spread out all over the place and always find their way back to the mall to be recycled. I played many hours before I realized how much waste there was in the early and mid game until I started recycling. I want to thank Nilaus, KoS, Scarhoof, Xterminator for all of their work to help newbies and veterans alike with their videos, blueprints, and ideas. I have spent many hours watching and learning from you and others. I hope someone finds this mall useful. Enjoy.
